Elementary OS Luna has just released its own AppCenter

The elementary OS team has released the first version of AppCenter, a tool used to install and remove software, designed to be beautiful, fast and lightweight.

AppCenter uses the same backend as the Lubuntu Software Center (libappstore) and Packagekit and since this is the first public release, there are missing features such as ratings, reviews and featured apps, but these features should be available in a future release. The plan is to allow AppCenter to also handle application updates, but for now this isn't available.

The basic features are, of course, already available: installing/removing applications, displaying screenshots and so on.

AppCenter won't be included in elementary OS Luna by default, but it should be available in the following release.

The elementary OS team is also working on an application review process for both new and updated apps and based on some automated and hand testing, the applications will receive a score and if they pass a threshold, they will be published in the AppCenter. This will assure users that the applications will work well on their systems and it should also be fast enough so developers don't have to wait a lot until their app is published to the AppStore.

Install AppCenter from terminal :

sudo apt-get install appcenter

How to fix touchpad performance of linux on Macbook machine.

I bet you'll be having problem with touchpad performance on macbook running linux system, because i've been through that.

It's kinda annoying when the touchpad does not perform as it does on os x mountain lion.

The touchpad sensitivity is gone bad on linux system. Sometimes it clicks wherever i don't want to click, it selects area i don't want to as well. I've been through those trouble times.
I've googled around the globe, tried many suggestions like synclient....etc. but none of those are working.

Finally i found an efficient solution which is a tool called 'synaptiks', just go to software center and install  it. And configure these following properties with your own preference, example :

Minimum speed : 0.49
Maximum speed : 8.10
Acceleration factor : 0.069

and check the option of 'For All movements, not only dragging'.

After that you'll be thankful to iPPLE.

How to mount Mac partition with write permission.

Are you using linux operating system on a macbook and you also have some partitions which are formatted in HFS+ (journaled) ? Normally the mac partition is automatically mounted in linux system with read-only permission, means you cannot create or delete any files or folder in mac partition.

Actually there is a workaround for this access by disable journaling with these following steps:

- Boot into mac os x
- Launch Disk Utility
- Select the partition you wanted to access from Linux
- Hold option Key still, and browse the file menu and choose 'Disable Journaling'

Done !!. Restart and boot into linux system, from there after you have full access to the mac  partition.

Note : By default, Mac OS X formats volumes injournaled HFS+ volumes. Journaling is a feature that improves data reliability, and unfortunately it makes HFS drives read-only in Linux.

How to move your iTunes folder to other location.

Are you having a small storage left for your iTunes Backup ? Are you wanting to backup all your iDevices to others location like external hard disk or a bigger partition ?

Note: Moving the iTunes iPhone/iPad/iPod backup folder to another drive requires that external drive to be connected in order to backup or sync future iOS devices properly.

Follow this instruction to get it done :

From the Mac OS X Finder, hit Command+Shift+G to bring up the “Go To” window, type the following directory in:~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/

From this folder, copy the “Backup” folder to a new location on the external hard drive, for example a folder called iOSBackup on a drive named “External”

Now we need to create a symbolic link between where the original Backup folder was, and the new location on the external drive. Launch Terminal and type the following command, referencing your new backup location:

ln -s /Volumes/External/iOSBackup/ ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup

Congratulation !!! from now on you will trick iTunes to located the mobilesync folder into your external drive or other location you prefer.

Saurik Releases Cyueue Tweak For Queuing Songs on Your iPhone

Saurik has released Cyueue, a new tweak that modifies the Music application on your iOS device to let you queue songs for playback.
This functionality has been embedded into the Apple Music application itself: when you press a song (while already playing another song), you get a menu:

Play Now — interrupt what you are playing, and play the item right now
Play Next — put the item right after the current one on your upcoming queue

Play Last — put the item at the end of your upcoming queue (after others)

After your upcoming queue is done playing, you will be returned to the songlist you were previously playing. The upcoming queue is exposed as a normal iPod playlist called Cyueue. This playlist is reset each time you start a new play session with Cyueue.

You can purchase Cyueue from the Cydia Store for $2.49.
